Hickory put its skills in structural preservation to good use with the transformation of a 200-year-old barn into a dining facility and culinary school at Blackberry Farm resort in Walland, TN. Crews reassembled the components of the barn – which had stood on a Pennsylvania farm since the early 1800s – at the Blackberry Farm site in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The job entailed installing modern plumbing, electricity, HVAC and insulation while maintaining the barn’s original exterior look.
Today, the reinvented facility serves as an alternate dining space for guests of the five-star resort. It is home to three kitchens equipped with modern, commercial, gourmet-cooking equipment, an extensive wine cellar and more.
