As a journeyman with Hickory Construction, Roger Holbert often considers himself that extra set of eyes and hands on the job site that helps expedite the day’s work and keeps things running smoothly. His duties include everything from job set-up and carpentry to assisting subcontractors and helping make sure the work site is clean and secure at the end of the day.
Being able to see most of his projects through from beginning to end helps him build a strong rapport with the homeowners he’s serving, whether it’s new construction or remodeling.
“A lot of times, I’m there at the end of the job, when everyone else is gone,” he explains. “It gives me a chance to build relationships with customers.”
Holbert began working for Hickory in 1998, and he says it’s a testament to the company that he’s been on the job for so long.
“It’s a good company to work for,” he adds. “I like the work, and I like the people I work with and for.”
Prior to joining the team at Hickory, Holbert spent 20 years in the automotive field and also gained some experience working in drywall and masonry before being hired by the company.
When he’s not on the job, Holbert spends time on projects around the house, especially landscaping. He and his wife also enjoy outdoor activities like swimming, hiking and camping.
