As of October 5, the congregation of the Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church has a brand-new place to gather, thanks to the team at Hickory Construction. The recently completed 15,800-square-foot facility on Oak Ridge Turnpike provides the church with 3,000 more square feet of additional space than its previous facility.
In addition to more space, the structure features a single-slope roof over the sanctuary, creating a dramatic interior space, highlighted by wood-look ceiling tile and recessed lighting. Polished concrete floors are found throughout much of the building, and the exterior grounds showcase extensive landscaping and access paths. Multicolored brick veneer and exposed concrete contribute to the facility’s updated, modern appearance.
During the building’s recent dedication ceremony, church officials were quoted as saying, “Hickory Construction was steadfast in its partnership and competence, going above and beyond, at seemingly every step, to ensure the highest quality work. We give thanks.”
Construction on the new church building, which was completed in cooperation with the design firm Johnson Architecture, Inc., began October, 2013.
