Alcoa-based Hickory Construction Inc. was recognized recently as a Green Achiever by the GoGreenET Green Business Recognition Program.

The program highlights Knoxville-area businesses and nonprofit organizations that have made their operations more environmentally friendly.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized as a Green Achiever,” said John McMillan, vice president of marketing for Hickory Construction. “We take this honor seriously and will continue to do what we can as a company to promote and encourage environmental stewardship.”

Hickory Construction demonstrated several green practices in each of the program categories, including recycling/waste reduction, energy efficiency and community outreach.

GoGreenET.com is an online resource created to aid East Tennessee businesses and organizations in making their operations, whether a factory or office setting, more sustainable. Nearly 90 East Tennessee companies, known as Green Achievers, have participated in GoGreenET’s Green Business Recognition program since its inception two years ago.
