Be Prepared for Summer Swimming and Patio Parties

Understandably, winter is not the time of year to get excited about a new pool and outdoor entertaining area. However, if you would like to be swimming this summer, you should begin the process now. The most common mistake made when planning for a new pool is to underestimate the time it takes, from planning to project completion. If you wait until the first warm sunny day of spring to make your decision to put in a pool, you have waited too late and may not be able to fully enjoy it until the following spring. But by planning now, you can have your pool and outdoor environment ready for swimming and entertaining when summer makes its debut in 2009.

Typically, pool contractors are booked many months in advance, even more so in the spring, and the reality is that it can take months to build a quality pool and outdoor entertaining area when factoring in time for design, preliminary work and construction.

In general terms, the pool construction sequence includes:

  • Pool site layout
  • Excavation
  • Formwork
  • Concrete
  • Pool and patio finish
  • Equipment installation
  • Electrical installation
  • Surrounding elements (decks/landscaping)

This list focuses on the construction phase after that period of time when you have chosen a pool design. Hickory has vast experience in swimming pool construction. Our professionals are skilled in both new construction and existing pool area enhancements. Click here to see a few of the pools Hickory has built and/or renovated.
