We start with a simple, informal meeting. That’s it. No strings, no stress – just both parties getting to to know each other. We want you to know who we are, and likewise, we want to get to know you and understand your vision for the project you’re considering. We answer lots of questions and ask a few of our own. For example, we may ask if you’re considering working with an architect or if you are looking for design-build options.
Next, we gather as much information about your project as possible. In addition to those detailed plans, we want to find out if you have any concerns or specific needs. For example, you might need to keep your home or office functional during a renovation. Meanwhile, we fully explain the business side of how Hickory works and what you can expect during this informational stage of our relationship.
After analyzing the information gathered, we generate an accurate, realistic estimate. This is the point at which we review the project estimate and schedule with you. We discuss each phase of the project, the estimated costs and the time it will take to finish. With your input and questions, we stay on the same page and make final revisions.
After reviewing the estimate and schedule, we offer you a contract to begin work. We explain exactly what you can expect and how we keep an eye on your bottom line. We show you how Hickory monitors costs with weekly budget and schedule reviews, and we explain how we secure all the financial details with a computer back-up. Finally, we show you what invoices look like and when to expect billing.
With the contract in place, we immediately engage in negotiations for supplier and subcontractor agreements. At this point, you meet with your construction team, including the project manager and on-site superintendent. They deliver enormous value by ensuring that the day-to-day construction on your site stays on schedule. From start to finish, they schedule all crews and deliveries and monitor quality control and budget.
