Project Summary

This 11,000 square foot home sits on 9.25 acres and was the first private residence to be built on Blackberry Mountain. The design features unique details throughout. Guests are immediately struck by the stunning black slate roof imported from Spain and the custom Asselin doors and windows from France.

Built with guests in mind, Honeycomb has five bedrooms as well as three “honeycomb” shaped bunks. In addition, the home includes five full bathrooms and two Powder Rooms.

The main level of the home has a Screened Porch with ten foot tall sliding doors which connect to the Living Room and when open, bring the outdoors into the main living space. The clerestory design floods the room with natural light and displays the large Cypress timbers overhead. The home’s Kitchen which is highlighted by a custom groin vault ceiling layered with nine tons of real Tennessee stone is the centerpiece of this level. It features multiple refrigerators, a wine cooler and a uniquely designed glass wall cabinet system. Another unique feature of the main level is a room specially designed for prayer and meditation. This peaceful space is designed to welcome in extensive natural light and exquisite views of the surrounding mountains.

Inspired by the client’s love of music and entertaining, the lower level of the home features a stage, theatre, gaming area and sound control booth. It is constructed with highly specialized sound limiting acoustic considerations. In keeping, the main floor above the entertaining space has a custom floor underlayment to reduce noise to the space below. Other unique features include a secret bookcase passageway and a hidden Wine Cellar. When enjoying the cool Tennessee mountain evenings guests can enjoy any one of the three custom indoor fireplaces or the one-of-kind outdoor fireplace located near the Spa and neighboring outdoor Kitchen.
